Live TV streaming from Time Warner Cable now on iPhone
Time Warner Cable has updated its iOS app to allow iPhone users to watch live TV through their smartphones.
The new iPhone-compatible app joins the iPad edition which was launched last year and also the Android version (which only offers DVR control rather than live TV streaming).
Now TWC customers who also have a broadband connection can stream live TV from almost 200 channels directly to their iPhone.
You can also manage your DVR recordings and use the app as a remote control for your set-top box.
The app comes at no extra cost to TWC customers, but you will need to be on your local Wi-Fi network.
The full list of channels available is available here.

After watching the pay TV industry for while working at DISH, I have concluded that they have made strides in attempting to give their subscribers streaming capabilities. After you look at those strides, the apps are still lacking features and some are utter failures when it comes to giving subscribers what they want. Subscribers want value just like I do, and by value I am talking about getting the most out of my dollar every month. Don’t get me wrong, choices are good for subscribers. I could stream to my iPad with its 10-inch screen, my iPhone with its 4-inch screen, or just watch my 42-inch television, I mean it is still a choice, and really I can’t see why I ever watched that big old television. Outside of the house when I am mobile, I can see streaming to an iPhone, or iPad but not in my house. I believe I will just stick with sling adapter that I have hooked up to my DISH receiver. It allows me to stream all my live channels and recorded shows to those mobile devices no matter where I am, giving me my TV everywhere.
